To place a SCRIP order print the order form from the link above, complete it, and deliver it with a check for the full amount to our SCRIP coordinator, Connie Hilger. Connie will be available to accept SCRIP orders at the monthly parent meetings. Or call her to make arrangements to drop off an order to her. Or leave your order in the black lock box on the band room wall.
The SCRIP program provides essentially "free money" to apply toward program fees for the Westview Band and Auxiliary Program. The Parent Group buys certificates or gift cards issued by numerous merchants at a discount. The certificates are then sold to you at face value. You receive a gift card that you can use to purchase goods and services. The difference between the face value and the discounted purchase price is applied to the account for your student's band fees. For example, you pay $10 for a $10 gift card for Hollywood Video. You can use it to pay for $10 worth of purchases or rentals at any Hollywood Video location. The Parent Group purchased the gift card at a discounted price of $9.20. The difference of $0.80 goes to the account of your son or daughter to offset the fees due to the Band Program. Some families have earned enough through SCRIP to cover 100% of their fees, just by using SCRIP for the purchases of groceries, clothing, restaurant meals, gifts and gasoline that they had to buy anyway. A couple of limitations: If you earn more through SCRIP than is owed in Band Program fees, the balance goes to support the general fund expenses of the program. If a student leaves the Band Program, any balance of SCRIP earnings are forfeited and transferred to the Band program general fund. No cash will be returned to the students or their families from SCRIP purchases. The Parent Group maintains an inventory of the most popular SCRIP items for sale to parents and friends. SCRIP from other merchants can be ordered and generally delivered to you within about a week. SCRIP is available from a wide variety of national and local merchants, including grocers, book stores, electronics stores, movie theaters, department stores, specialty stores, restaurants, hotels, airlines, and rental car companies. The Order Form links above provide a list of most of the SCRIP merchants. For a complete list, click on the link above to the Great Lakes SCRIP center web site.
