FAQ

Hopefully this will be able to answer any questions that you may have about winter guard!

Rehearsals

The winter guard schedule is posted on this website. It is extremely important for ALL members to attend every single rehearsal. We do understand that illness and family emergencies do come up. If this comes up you need to contact a coach as soon as possible via e-mail or phone. The staff comes to rehearsal with specific plans in mind and it is very helpful to know which members will not be in attendance.

Please understand that sometimes rehearsals get cancelled only a few hours before hand. We do our best to notify the members as soon as possible.

Members are highly encouraged to wear black (or as dark as possible) at all rehearsals. Please, however, do not go out and spend a fortune on rehearsal clothes. The dark clothing helps us see the lines of the body and bright colors tend to be distracting.

Please bring the following to ALL rehearsals:
  • WATER
  • Electrical Tape
  • Tennis Shoes and socks
  • All equipment
  • Healthy snacks
  • Lunch (Saturday practices)
  • Pain reliever/inhaers/ice packs/ braces (Many people have personal ailments that they need to take care of, please be prepared to take care of these things at rehearsal.)

Competition Days

These days are long! Please come prepared with lots of food, change of clothing, and maybe even a pillow! We will meet at Five Oaks in the morning and rehearse for a small amount of time and then pack up and head out to the competition site. Parent volunteers will be notified of when the kids will need to be picked up (we carpool to and from competition sites). Upon arrival we will be given an indoor space to store our belongings. Every competition schedule varies, the kids time will be divided between watching performances, performing, warming up, helping on the other teams, and having some free time.

It is very important for the kids to bring their OWN healthy food for the day. Unlike marching band we are not able to provide food for the kids.
