The Parent Group engages in several major fundraising efforts throughout the year. Funds raised through these efforts generally help to reduce the amount of fees that need to be charged to each student to participate in the program. All families are encouraged to participate in the fundraising activities by providing time, creative energy, labor, and financial support to the extent possible. We are always looking for new ideas! Current annual fundraising efforts include:
Annual Garage Sale An annual garage sale occurs in August during band camp. This is a 4 day event which needs many volunteers to help out with setup, running the event and tear down. This is an excellent way to turn others’ castoffs into treasure for the band and performance ensemble. Please start saving your items now! find out

Apple Pie Concert The annual American as Apple Pie concert is in November of each year. The symphonic band and jazz band perform a number of exciting Sousa marches, patriotic songs, and pops literature. In addition to fine music, pie, and ice cream are served to all persons attending. Admission is charged to defray these expenses and to support the Parent Group budget. Westview Winter Classic The Parent Group sponsors a Winterguard and Winter Percussion competition at Westview High School during the winter months. The Westview Winter Classic is a major event within the Winterguard/Winter Percussion competitions of the NWAPA. It draws top Winterguard & Winter Percussion talent from throughout Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia in a day of music, dance, and pageantry. A Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, scheduling and coordinating student and parent volunteers for this 1-day event. It’s an intense effort, but only lasts for about 3 weeks. Your organization and leadership skills can be the key to the success for this very important event. Many hands are needed to make this event a success. Pre-show planning tasks include contacting local merchants about sponsorships, program prep and publishing, concessions planning, travel arrangements for judges. Day of show volunteers are needed for parking and traffic control, ticket sales, unit hosts, first aid, concessions, clean up, and many other jobs. |
