The Wildcat Marching Band is an
award-winning ensemble of approximately 160 students from all grades,
including
the Performance Ensemble as well as musicians from all three wind ensembles and
percussion. The Marching Band and
Performance Ensemble perform at halftime of all home football games, and perform
as a pep band during the games.
The
Marching Band season begins with a two-week
band camp in August. During band camp, fall-term class periods,
and fall evening rehearsals, the Marching Band learns a complex and challenging
show. The show combines three or more
short musical productions with marching and movement.
The
marching show is presented at three or more weekend competitions during the
fall. To learn more about the
competitions, click here.
Parade marching is another important
element of Westview’s music program. The Marching Band and Performance Ensemble
generally march in the Beaverton Community Parade each September. The school year concludes with participation
in the Portland Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade each June. Westview won the
Sweepstakes Award as the top marching band in the 2006 parade, and won second
place in the 2007 parade.
