DONATIONS TO BAND, GUARD ALWAYS NEEDED
Donations and fundraising efforts have always been important to support the well-rounded instrumental and marching performance program that Westview offers. As the Beaverton School District faces significant budget shortfalls, our program will have to rely even more on support from parents and friends.

MARK CALENDARS NOW FOR '09 BAND CAMPAs always, the new year for Westview's band program kicks off with band camp, 9 am to 6 pm each day during the 2 weeks prior to the start of school in the fall. Mark your calendars now for Aug. 24 through Sept. 4. These 2 weeks are an extremely important learning experience for all band and guard members, and attendance is important. Plus, it's a lot of fun and a great bonding and tam-building time for the students.
SUPPORT MUSIC IN SCHOOLS Music contributes directly to academic success for students in high school and beyond. Richard Strauch, band director at Spokane's Whitworth University, has shown that high school band students have a higher GPA, score higher on the SAT, and rank higher with college admissions departments than their non-musician counterparts.
