Pep Band now in operation!

Pep Band has begun; so far, we have performed at 2 home basketball games. We would love for more members to come play! Playing at basketball games is a great way to earn your band letter and keep your chops active outside of band class. The music is challenging but exciting.

The next game is Friday, January 20th at WHS. Arrive at 6:30 and plan to stay until around 9:00ish. ANY BAND STUDENT is welcome and encouraged to show up! Wear red! Additional games can be found on the online band calendar.

BSD Budget Survey

The Beaverton School District is seeking your input on the upcoming budgeting process. As you probably know, our district must once again face tremendously challenging budget reductions. Programs could be cut back or eliminated. This is your opportunity to let the district know that music is a defnite “keeper.”

Click here to go to the BSD Budget Priorities Survey web page where you can take the survey.

Decision-makers must hear the facts about music education, and they must hear them from you

  • Music education must begin in Kindergarten and be continuous throughout 12th grade to be effective.
  • Music education must be affordable to families.
  • Music education classes must be taught by licensed music educators and must take place during the school day to reach all students.
  • Music education completes a student’s social and individual development.
  • Quality music education programs are a direct reflection of a community’s values and expectations for its young people.
  • If you’d like to read more about the benefits of music, check out this 2007 article from MENC (now known as NAfME).

Thank you for your time, effort and support.
